If you are a member of GVS your organisation is entitled to nominate a candidate for election to our Board of Trustees.  As stated in our governing document, at least two-thirds of the Board members are to be nominated by the GVS membership. The remainder will be recruited via open competition.  

Graham Benfield OBE, a man who profoundly impacted the voluntary sector in Wales, passed away peacefully at home on March 22nd, 2025.

GVS' FoodShare Pantry volunteer team has scooped up another award, this time for Best Community Group in the Bro Radio Community Awards.  

Bro Radio has unveiled the 33 finalists in this year's Community Awards with Chris Davies Estate Agents.  Among the finalists is FoodShare Pantry who have been nominated in the category of Best Community Group.

The Fayre will be held at the CF61 Community Centre, Station Road, Llantwit Major CF61 1ST on Friday, June 6th, from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

Residents of Cowbridge and surrounding villages are invited to a Mini Volunteering Fayre hosted by Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS) during Volunteers' Week 2025 (June 2nd - 8th).  

 A Mini Volunteering Fayre will be held at Barry Library, King Square, Barry CF63 4RW on Wednesday, June 4th, from 10 am to 1 pm.   

As part of Volunteers' Week 2025 (June 2nd - 8th), GVS will be at Penarth Library, 9-10 Stanwell Rd, Penarth CF64 2AD on Tuesday, June 3rd, from 10 am to 12 pm.   

Every year, the UK comes together during Volunteers' Week, running from the first Monday in June, to celebrate and thank the incredible contributions of volunteers.

The recent coffee morning held in support of the CF61 Gardening Project proved to be a resounding success, raising a fantastic total of £1,088.18.

At CF61, we have two versatile and welcoming spaces available for hire: the spacious Colhuw Main Hall and the multi-purpose Hoddnant Room.

Twenty-five years. A whole generation. Looking back to November 1999, when I first stepped into Glamorgan Voluntary Services (formerly VCVS) as the Western Vale Development Officer, it feels like both a lifetime and a blink of an eye.

Clive Curtis joined, what was Vale Council for Voluntary Services, on 1st November 1999 as the Western Vale Development Officer. Therefore, that means that Clive has celebrated 25 years with the County Voluntary Council.

Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS) is excited to announce the launch of a new, comprehensive fact sheet designed to help third sector organisations across Wales, particularly in the Vale of Glamorgan, understand and demonstrate their social value. 

GVS today highlighted the significant implications of the benefit system changes announced in Parliament on the 18th March. An information sheet produced by GVS outlines key changes, including stricter Personal Independence Payment (PIP) eligibility, the end of Work Capability Assessments, and reforms to Universal Credit and unemployment insurance.
