A Special Memorial Service Held for a Truly Special Man
Graham Benfield OBE, a man who profoundly impacted the voluntary sector in Wales, passed away peacefully at home on March 22nd, 2025.
A memorial service was held in his honour on Thursday, May 29th, 2025, at St. Illtyd's Church, followed by a reception at Rosedew Farm in Llantwit Major. A significant number of people gathered to pay their respects and celebrate the life of such an remarkable individual.
Graham served as the Chief Executive of WCVA (Welsh Council for Voluntary Action) from 1989 to 2014. During his 25-year tenure, he was instrumental in completely transforming the landscape for voluntary organisations in Wales.
Upon his retirement from WCVA, GVS seized the opportunity to welcome Graham to its Board of Trustees. For over a decade, Graham expertly led the GVS Board, earning immense respect from his fellow trustees and the entire GVS staff team. His guidance and wisdom were invaluable to the organisation.
