Celebrating Volunteers' Week Across the UK

Every year, the UK comes together during Volunteers' Week, running from the first Monday in June, to celebrate and thank the incredible contributions of volunteers.

This long-standing initiative, launched in 1984, provides a vital platform for organisations and communities to recognise the invaluable efforts of both current and past volunteers.

Volunteers' Week strengthens the bonds between organsations and local groups, highlighting the spirit of volunteering that enriches communities nationwide.

This year, the celebration takes place from Monday, June 2nd to Sunday, June 8th.

Did you know that…

  • A remarkable 14.2 million people across the UK formally volunteer at least once a month.

  • In 2024 alone, volunteering contributed an estimated £4.6 billion in productivity gains to the UK economy.

  • An impressive 25 million individuals in the UK engaged in informal volunteering at least once during the year.

These figures highlight the impact of volunteers throughout the UK. By working together, with the support of organisations like yours, we can further strengthen the power of volunteering and build stronger, more connected communities.

Volunteering offers fantastic personal rewards, from making new friendships and acquiring new skills to enhancing your wellbeing and making a real difference locally.
