Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Warm Spaces Scheme
As part of the Council’s work to support citizens during the cost-of-living crisis we are currently facing, the Council has plans to develop a Warm Spaces scheme. The aim is to provide residents in the Vale with a network of community spaces that offer a warm and inviting place to come together this winter at no cost, and that offer a ‘Warm Welcome’ to different parts of our communities.
Motion Control Dance
Motion Control Dance run a movement and wellbeing programme for older people, which started back at our dance studio at Barry YMCA from 12th September 2022. These sessions are listed in the Vale Golden Pass scheme, offering special rates for those new to the scheme.

A new paper from Public Health Wales and Bangor University shows that suffering adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) such as child maltreatment and exposure to domestic violence can affect individuals’ parenting behaviours later in life, increasing their risks of using physical punishment towards children.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (UHB) has recently launched a School In-Reach service for emotional wellbeing and mental health. School In-Reach has been set up to improve early intervention and access to support for education professionals and young people.
An update regarding pressures on maternity services
Our Health Board continues to face extreme pressures across services which includes maternity. Unfortunately, in July the Health Board has had to make the difficult decision to suspend home birthing services until October 2022 to alleviate workforce pressures in hospital midwifery settings, particularly the Midwifery Led Unit.
