A physio recognition event was held for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, on 25 April to celebrate Cardiff and Vale University Health Board’s clinical staff for their hard work and dedicated service throughout the trying times the last 12-18 months has brought.

Loneliness is affecting more and more people in the UK each year and has a significant impact on our mental health and wellbeing. Loneliness has been worsened by the pandemic and even as social distancing measures have become more relaxed, people are still feeling the impact.

On International Nurses Day (May 12), the Chief Nursing Officer for Wales Sue Tranka has met some of the new nurses from across the world who have come to work in Wales.

A gardening project in Newport is helping to tackle loneliness and social isolation by bringing communities together. To celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week (9-15 May), Deputy Minister for Social Services, Julie Morgan has visited Keep Wales Tidy’s Growing Together initiative in Newport.

Marie Curie are working with Diverse Cymru, with Welsh Government funding, to improve access to bereavement support across Wales. As part of the project, Diverse Cymru are hiring a Community Engagement Officer, which will play an important role in shaping our project and services. Deadline for applications is 22nd May 2022

Cowbridge tennis club’s major fundraising event of 2022 was a huge success thanks to everyone who took part in, supported and donated to the 24 hour on-court event, which was held from Friday 29th April to Saturday 30th April and raised over £2,000 towards improvements to the club’s facilities.

The Hapi C&V project is into its second year after launching in May 2021. The project, hosted by Newydd Housing Association and funded by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board looks to increase the physical activity levels and healthy eating habits of those residents living in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
