Launch of Loneliness and Isolation Grant Fund 2023
The revenue-only fund is provided via the Welsh Government Connected Communities scheme and administered by Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS) in liaison with the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
The Fund is open for applications from Tuesday 1st August 2023, with a deadline for submission of 12 noon on Friday, 15th September 2023.
This revenue-only Fund aims to support proposals which tackle loneliness and social isolation. The overall aim is to increase opportunities for people to connect, create cohesive and supportive communities and supporting connected communities.
FoodShare Pantry gets a beautiful new makeover!
Our FoodShare Pantry at CF61 in Llantwit Major continues to grow and go from strength to strength. July saw the completion of the room makeover with new external doors directly into the pantry, a clean lick of white paint throughout and a beautiful new wood floor.

Cardiff cyclist wins gold at World Transplant Games
Professor Nicholas Topley, a retired academic from The School of Medicine, Cardiff University took part in the 20km Team Time Trial with teammates Richie Sheerin and Sean Rintoul, and won Gold, making them World Champions. Professor Topley also went on to win two Bronze medals in the Individual Time Trial and 30km Road Race, all of which were cycling events held at the Waneroo racing circuit in North Perth.

Lung Cancer Patient begins fundraising cycle from Cardiff to Paris to improve diagnosis for others
In September 2022, at the age of 40, Craig Maxwell was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer, EGFR+. Craig was told that the Stage 4 cancer had spread to his bones and was at this point incurable. Facing a terminal illness, he began to focus on ways he could contribute to the improvement of diagnosis and treatment of cancer for other patients across Wales, and has since been completing a number of physical challenges to raise awareness and funds for the QuicDNA Liquid Biopsy Clinical trial.
