Maximum value:

15000.00

Objective of fund:

As a small trust awarding a limited number of grants each year to support high quality projects delivered by committed organisations, we hope to contribute towards the positive impact which the arts can make on people’s lives.

The goal of Scops Arts Trust is to help people to understand, participate in and enjoy the arts, particularly the performing arts. We are keen to find projects which widen access and have a lasting cultural impact on the community.

Who can apply

The types of organisation we support are generally registered charities, but we will consider applications from social enterprises, community groups, etc, if they are formally constituted and have clear charitable purposes. Whilst we do not exclude large charities, applications from small to medium sized organisations will be looked on more favourably.

Round 2 - Early-career artists performance programmes focussing on performance opportunities

We are looking for high quality programmes offering early career artists opportunities to advance their training and development towards performance. We will consider applications for Dance, Drama and Music. We define early career as those at the early stages of a professional art-related career, who have already demonstrated a clear commitment to pursuing their practice beyond an amateur or hobby level. Please note, with this round, as with all of our funding, we do not fund individuals directly.

Round 3: Opens 1 September and closes on 15 September (decisions by 17 November)

Children’s and young people’s music education (choirs are excluded)

We are interested in programmes which give children and young people opportunities to Learn, Create, Experience and Progress. We have a particular interest in applications which concentrate on teaching instrumental playing.

Restrictions

If your project does not fall within our focus for each round, it will not be considered. If your answers to the eligibility questions are not accurate, your application will be rejected. If you apply before 12 months has lapsed since a previous application correspondence email was sent to you (not the date you applied), your application will be rejected.

Please note we do not support projects or organisations where the main focus is health, therapy or social welfare; nor do we contribute towards the costs of construction, fit-out or repairs of arts venues.

Please note we do not support individuals.

Please note we do not support schools.

Please note we will only pay grants to a bank account under the name of the organisation/group. If you are a newly formed entity, please do not apply to us until you have your banking and governance fully in place. We award one-off grants and also consider multi-year funding.

Eligible Expenditure

The Trust has a focused grant-making approach to each of the three grants rounds per year, inviting applications for a particular area of the performing arts, different in each grants round. The categories will be advertised on our website. The majority of grants we award are in support of projects, but contributions towards specific and restricted core costs of smaller organisations where a grant from Scops Arts Trust could make an impact, will be considered.

How to apply

Application and assessment process

This is what to expect if you decide to apply for a grant to Scops Arts Trust.

  • Check the homepage to see if we are currently open to accepting applications

  • Pre-application stage – applicants should complete our Eligibility Checks

  • If you are successful, you will be invited to make a Stage 1 application
