Islamic Relief UK Programmes is dedicated to supporting and investing in a thriving and diverse voluntary and community sector that brings positive change to the lives of people across the United Kingdom.
We also aim to transform the lives of marginalised and vulnerable communities in the UK by funding projects that support the following key themes:
Building Resilience to Poverty:
Prioritising programme delivery within disadvantaged and vulnerable communities
Incorporating sustainability within programme initiatives
Developing the capacity of local communities to address issues of poverty
Empowering Women and Girls:
Providing economic opportunities for women
Supporting survivors of domestic abuse
Developing the confidence and skills of women
Supporting Refugee and Asylum-Seeking Communities:
Engaging in projects that empower refugee communities socially and financially
Youth & Family Development
Engaging young people in constructive activities
Encouraging youth leadership and confidence-building
Supporting disadvantaged BAMER (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, and Refugee) populations
Who can apply
Islamic Relief UK’s Grant Programme is for projects and initiatives that will help UK residents to alleviate poverty and economic resilience, supporting refugees and combatting challenges faced by women. The overall aim is to help at home, here in the UK.
Applicants are welcome from organisations such as:
Local community groups and/or faith-based organisations
Charities (including local branches of national charities) acting for the benefit of the local community
Voluntary and community organisations
Registered charities, including charitable incorporated organisations
Registered not-for-profit companies
Registered community interest companies
Although you do not have to be a registered charity to be eligible to apply for our grants, your work and the focus of your application must be for charitable purposes in the UK.
All organisations must, as a basic requirement, have a constitution and a bank account, with the same name as the organisation.
Eligible Expenditure
Islamic Relief UK funding can be used to cover all the costs of delivering a project, including:
Staff salaries and associated costs
Room hire
Equipment, materials, and other project resources
Organisational or core costs (including rent, heat, light, insurance) proportional to the size of the project
Funding cannot be used:
For capital works or major building works
For general charitable appeals
To pay back debt or cover past expenditure
We will not be able to fund the following:
Applications from overseas organisations
Applications from individuals
Applications to purchase buildings
Applications from statutory bodies
Endowment appeals
Application from scouts’ group as we support the main association
Application from schools unless it has a charity / foundation arm
How to apply
The bidding process from application to implementation can take up to 6 months.
Applications cannot be accepted after the closing date. Incomplete applications will also not be considered.

On some occasions, we may contact you to gather further information on your application and to offer support for you to meet our criteria. However please note that we receive a high number of applications, and this may not always be possible.
Feedback
We will email you to update you on the progress of your application once a decision has been made at the programme appraisal group.
We consider all applications carefully but due to the substantial number of applications we receive, we are unable to provide individual feedback on each application.
