The Emergency Unit at the University Hospital of Wales remains under significant pressure, much like Emergency Departments across Wales. However, over the last two years, colleagues at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board have worked tirelessly to put improvements in place to transform the environment for both patients attending and colleagues working within the Emergency Unit.

On Monday 2nd September, the maternity and neonatal units at Princess of Wales Hospital (POW) within Cwm Taf Morgannwg (CTM) University Health Board will close for 12 weeks to allow urgent and essential refurbishment work to take place.

Children and adults who missed out on two doses of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine will be able to take advantage of pop-up vaccination sessions during the school summer holidays.

Treating failing eyesight and high cholesterol are two new ways to lower the risk of dementia developing, a major report suggests. Scientists have now identified 14 health issues which, if reduced or eliminated, could theoretically prevent nearly half of dementias in the world.
