Rhoose Community Library

Rhoose Community Library is a registered charity which is run by volunteers in partnership with the Vale Council Library service which supplies the books, IT support and any training required.
Over ten years ago the Vale of Glamorgan Council decided that several libraries in the rural Vale would cease to be a Council run service and unless a Community Library was formed to take it on and hold a lease, they would be closed.
A small committee was formed to steer the formation of a charity and make a bid to take on the library, and the outcome was Rhoose Community Library became a registered charity with a constitution and in 2016 and was able to apply to take on the running of the library and sign a ninety nine year lease. I extend the thanks of the charity to everyone over the years who have given us their time and commitment in whatever capacity.
To celebrate our ten year anniversary, we are holding an event on Saturday 5th September from 12,00 noon which is an important opportunity for a reunion of all who have played their part to come together and recognise the wonderful service that the Rhoose Community Library with the additional Activity Centre provides for the people of Rhoose and District. We will have three prominent local authors, Chris Lloyd, Brenda Despontin and Graham Loveluck-Edwards for you to meet and they will be available for book signings and have their latest books available.
Jeffrey James the Chairman said “Having been Chairman for ten years I still recall those early days and still remember many of those who played an important part in making the library an essential community hub in Rhoose.
I hope to see many of them as well as our current volunteers, library members and friends on our day of celebration.”
