GVS interviews local charities and voluntary organisations to hear about their amazing work within the communities they support.

What services does your organisation offer?

An opportunity for those living with Parkinson's, their carers, family and friends to get together for a chat over a cuppa in a relaxed atmosphere. We frequently have guest speakers on a variety of subjects.

 

Where is your organisation based and what geographical areas does your organisation cover? Llantonian Hall, Llantwit Major,

CF61 1TG (behind the Rugby Club) within easy reach of bus and rail station. We cover Barry, St Athan, Rhoose, Llantwit Major and Cowbridge.

 

What difference are you making in the community?

Providing a place for people to come to get out of the house and have a change of scenery and to meet others in the same situation.

 

What is the most rewarding / enjoyable aspect of the organisations work?

Seeing people come together, forgetting their woes for a while and most importantly the laughter amongst the group. And also seeing friendships being formed.

 

How can people join in? Meetings recommence on Wednesday 16th June 1.30 to 3.30pm and we meet every third Wednesday of the month between 1.30 and 3.30pm. Just turn up, stay as long as you like. We charge £2 per person for unlimited tea, coffee, biscuits and a small raffle.
