FREE Safeguarding Training for GVS’ Member Organisations – book your free place!

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, especially for community groups, sports clubs and charities that work closely with children, young people and adults. A high percentage of GVS member organisations have direct contact with people of all ages, making safeguarding training essential to creating safe, inclusive and trusted environments.

To support its members, GVS is offering three free safeguarding training sessions, delivered by experienced Welsh safeguarding trainer Jon Trew.

The training sessions include:

Essential Safeguarding for Community Groups and Volunteers

  • 3 March 2026, 12.45pm–4.00pm, Bay Hall, St Paul’s Community Centre, Penarth OR

  • 5 March 2026, 12.45pm – 4.00pm, Hoddnant Room, CF61 Community Centre, Llantwit Major

This course explores safeguarding legislation, recognising and responding to abuse, confidentiality, record-keeping and safe working practices, including e-safety.

Group B Safeguarding Training (National Standards)

  • 16 March 2026, 9.00am–4.00pm, Channel Hall, St Paul’s Community Centre, Penarth

A full-day course for practitioners working directly with people, focusing on prevention, professional responsibilities and reporting concerns.

All sessions are free for GVS member organisations (initially a maximum of two places per organisation).
