Youth Work Volunteer
Youth work volunteers aged 16+ will support youth workers in youth clubs to arrange fun, informal and non-formal educational opportunities for young people. This will involve working with young people primarily aged 11-16 years of age; however, we also run a provision for 17-25 year olds too.
Youth clubs take place at various locations throughout the Vale of Glamorgan.
Main tasks
To assist in the delivery of activities
To assist in supervising young people and keeping them safe
To assist gathering the views of young people on local and national matters
To report any safeguarding concerns to a member of staff
Skills required
Experience of and the ability to communicate with and engage young people
To be non-judgemental
To be able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative
Keen to share ideas, learn and contribute to the development of the youth service

An Enhanced DBS check with baring for children and adults undertaken before you start
To receive a reference (after 6 months regular volunteering)
To be included in all social events organised by the Vale Youth Service
Time commitment: A suggested time commitment is 3 hours per week, Monday – Thursday evenings, negotiable with the organisation.
Expenses reimbursed: Out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.
Training provided: Full training is provided.
Selection procedure: Informal discussion, application form completion and 2 references and a disclosure and barring check (cost met by organisation).
