Acting as a representative of Blood Cancer UK in the local community, we would like you to help raise the profile of our organisation. Be a local champion by raising awareness of our work and research. Totally flexible to fit in with you.
The role is extremely varied; one month you could be putting information leaflets into libraries, GP practices and shops, the next gathering key contact information for the regional manager to pursue. You really can pick what you want to do.
The options with this role are limitless.
This varied and flexible role enables you to focus on the things you enjoy most, the connections you already have, and the time you have available.
Please note the minimum age for this role is 18 years old.
Key activities
Taking information into key locations in the community such as libraries, GP surgeries, local businesses, community centres, schools
Gathering key contacts from local businesses and groups and associations to pass onto the region manager
Scoping out local community events such as fetes and festivals, information days that could be of interest to the region manager or local fundraising groups
Submitting applications to secure dates for bucket collections at local venues
Speaking about the work of Blood Cancer UK
Signposting people to our organisation and our services
What skills, experience and qualities do I need?
Interested in fundraising and raising awareness of blood cancer
Good communicator who enjoys engaging with people in the local community
Committed, reliable and willing to take on a variety of tasks
Enthusiastic, organised, and motivated
Comfortable using a computer and undertaking administrative tasks
How much time do I need to give?
This is an all-year round role with flexible opportunities to gather and share information and raise awareness to suit your availability. You can expect to spend a few hours a month, at a time convenient to you
Ideally a commitment of 2-5 hours per month is preferable with an additional day bi-monthly distributing information in the community.
Expenses reimbursed: Travel expenses are reimbursed.
Training provided: Full training is provided. Regular check in over email or by telephone, depending on volunteer preference.
Selection procedure: Informal discussion, application form completion and 2 references.
