Vale of Glamorgan launches new ‘One‑Week Town Boost’ programme to revitalise Llantwit Major

The Vale of Glamorgan is set to pilot an exciting new initiative—the One‑Week Town Boost—bringing together residents, local businesses and the Council to inject fresh energy and activity into Llantwit Major town centre

Running from 17–21 March, the programme combines practical workshops, hands‑on planning sessions and a major volunteer-led One-Day Makeover designed to show how small, low‑cost improvements can make a big impact in just a few days. The initiative is funded by Welsh Government and supported by the Design Commission for Wales

The week begins with an Information Night and includes a Placemaking on a Shoestring Workshop, where simple tools and real‑world examples will demonstrate how removing unnecessary barriers can unlock momentum and support prosperity. Businesses and residents will help shape ideas, form project teams, and work together to transform part of the town centre.

The programme culminates on Saturday 21 March, when volunteers will roll up their sleeves to deliver a full One‑Day Makeover—an approach that has successfully revitalised public spaces in other towns around the world. No experience is required, just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.
