Objective of fund:
We hold two grants rounds per year. This year we are looking for proposals wanting to work with young women and girls who have been in the criminal justice system or who are at a high risk of entering it. Funding is available for work with girls aged 11-18 in the following areas – county lines and gangs, the care system and school exclusions.
Please read our criteria closely for our definition of what we mean by this, as we will not fund diversionary activities that address issues such as anti-social behaviour. For further information about the types of interventions and projects we support, please see our section on Young People & the Criminal Justice System.
Who can apply
Community and voluntary organisations who can demonstrate a track record of working with young people in contact with the criminal justice system or vulnerable hard to engage young people on the edge of the criminal justice system.
In 2026 our focus is projects working with young women and girls. Please check the eligibility criteria before submitting an application as only certain types of organisations are eligible to apply. In our first round we will only fund work delivered by organisations that are ‘for’ and ‘led by’ women and girls or organisations that are considered ‘issue experts’ in the specific areas we want to support.
Eligible Expenditure
Our first funding round in April will be supporting projects that work with young women and girls aged 11-18 in the following areas – involvement in county lines and gangs, those who are care experienced and those who are either outside of education or at risk of school exclusion.
In funding round 1 applicant organisations will need to be either ‘led by and for’ women and girls or be able to demonstrate that they are ‘issue experts’ working on one of the named areas we want to support. We will ask you to evidence this at several points in the application process so if this is not the case please do not submit a proposal as it will be rejected.
Our second funding round in September will be supporting projects that work with young women aged 17-30 in the following areas – young women already in contact with the criminal justice system who need holistic support to help them more away from offending, such as maintaining tenancies, securing and retaining jobs and building secure and healthy family relationships; pre-release and through the gate support for young women to meet their immediate needs; and support for mothers prior to and after serving a custodial sentence.
In funding round 2 applicant organisations will need to be either ‘led by and for’ women and girls or be able to demonstrate that they are ‘issue experts’ working on one of the named areas we want to support. We will ask you to evidence this at several points in the application process so if this is not the case please do not submit a proposal as it will be rejected.
How to apply
The application process has three stages…
Stage one – Expression of Interest
Applicants complete our short Expression of Interest form via the link on our website. These are then reviewed by the grants team and successful applicants are invited to submit a full application. To be invited to apply, the Expression of Interest will have to demonstrate that;
It meets the criteria fully and you have read all the relevant pages on our website in the Funding section.
The applicant organisation has the necessary track record and experience to deliver the work.
The Grants team aim to review the Expression of Interest forms promptly. You will be notified of the outcome so please check your spam folder if you have not heard from us.
Stage two – Full Application
If you are invited to make a full application, you will be sent an email with a link to complete our Application Form. Applications are then reviewed by the grants team and Trustees. To be shortlisted, an application will have to demonstrate that;
It meets the criteria fully
The applicant organisation has the necessary track record and experience to deliver the work
That the grant will make a difference
That the costs of the project are reasonable.
You will be notified of the outcome by the date provided in the application timetable so please check your spam folder if you have not heard from us. Please be patient as we are unable to provide you with an update before the dates listed.
Stage three – Shortlist
All shortlisted applicants (usually between 6-8 organisations) go on to the third stage of the application process which involves an in person visit or a Zoom call from our Director. Two weeks before the visit shortlisted applicants will need to provide the following;
A copy of your current Strategic Plan.
Your most recent set of Annual Accounts.
A copy of your organisation’s Budget for the current financial year.
An Org Chart showing the staffing structure of your organisation, including any new posts that would be funded by the grant.
A completed Year One Reporting Form that outlines the key activities and outcomes you hope to see in the first year of the grant.
A copy of your Safeguarding Policy.
The assessment visit usually lasts between 2-3 hours. Ideally, we would also like one of your Trustees to be a part of the visit so that we can get as wide a view as possible of your organisation.
Triangle Trust Trustees then review all applications after the assessment visit and consider which proposals are best placed to help us achieve our strategy aims. We visit more organisations than we are able to support as we want to make the best decisions about which applications to support.
