Tesco Fruit & Veg Grants
This programme invites schools, registered charities and not-for-profit organisations supporting children to apply for up to £1,500 to improve access to fruit and veg. Every four months, three local projects are selected to be in the customer vote in Tesco stores throughout the UK

Objective of fund:
Our funding is aimed at making a positive difference to children and improve their access to free fruit and veg to support a healthy, nutritious diet.
The focus of Tesco’s grant programme is getting schools and children’s groups who lack funds and resources to apply for extra financial help they might need to provide healthy and nutritious food and activities that boost young people’s mental and physical wellbeing. Applications that assist beneficiaries with food are encouraged. Please refer to the application guidance notes for examples of relevant projects.
Tesco customers are empowered to make a difference in their local community by using their blue token to vote and choose how the funding is distributed. Every project shortlisted for the vote receives funding but a vote using a blue token will make the difference to just how much funding each project receives – up to £500, £1,000 or £1,500.
Rolling Programme
This fund operates on a rolling basis with periodic opening and closing dates.
Who can apply
Grants will be awarded primarily to schools, and groups that support children and young people. These can include voluntary or community organisations (including registered charities/companies), Sports teams for young people, uniformed services (Brownies, Guides, Scouts, Cadets etc, nurseries and playgroups. This list is not exhaustive and there will be many other types of organisations that can be funded.
Applications are not eligible from:
Individuals
Community Interest Companies with shares (CIC’s)
Community Interest Companies with guarantee that are less than two years old
Profit-making organisations
Restrictions
Projects that are ineligible
Work that has already taken place
Political donations
Fundraising activities or challenges (e.g. costs for a sky dive etc.)
Running costs and organisation overheads
Conferences or seminars
Activities which collect funds for redistribution to other charities or individuals
Overseas appeals
Expeditions or overseas travel
Promotion of a religious or political cause
Marketing promotions
Research projects
Projects or activities that the state has a legal obligation to provide

What types of projects will Tesco fund?
Applications are open to all local good causes that support children and young people, with a particular focus on projects that incorporate provision of healthy food including fruit and veg, such a breakfast clubs, providing holiday club lunches or healthy snacks.
Examples include:
Breakfast/after school clubs that provides fruit and veg for pupils
Sports clubs that provide healthy food as part of the project or a much- needed half time boost
Growing initiatives to grow your own fruit and veg or cooking classes using the food to learn
Holiday clubs that provide healthy meals and snacks
Projects providing SEND provision with healthy snacks/meals
Youth clubs that provide a healthy meal/snack
Addressing holiday hunger amongst children outside of school time
Healthy eating projects that support families to cook healthy meals on a budget
Foodbanks to provide food support to families
