Shaping the Future: A Workshop on Climate Risks in the Vale of Glamorgan
As part of the Vale of Glamorgan Public Service Board (PSB) Climate Change Risk Assessment, we’re pleased to invite you to a workshop focused on understanding past weather and climate-related impacts.
This session on Thursday 2nd October will explore how climate risks are already affecting our places, services and communities and will help shape a shared understanding across PSB partners.
Purpose of the session:
Reflect on past events (e.g. floods, storms, heatwaves, coastal change)
Capture organisational and community experiences
Identify where impacts have been felt most, and where key risks are emerging
Inform the next stages of our climate change risk assessment (which includes future projections)
We will be using interactive tools and breakout rooms (e.g. whiteboard, structured prompts) to help capture input and build a collective view of climate vulnerability in the Vale.
The session will not require pre-reading — just bring your insights and experiences. We welcome a range of perspectives, including those from operational, planning, health, environment, and community engagement teams.
Who should attend?
Stakeholders nominated by PSB partners through the engagement process will be included in the session. Please also feel free to forward this invite to colleagues or partners who:
Have operational or service knowledge of past weather-related impacts
Are involved in infrastructure, asset management, health/well-being or environmental services
Represent vulnerable communities or groups affected by extreme weather events
Hold local knowledge relevant to past climate-related events in the Vale
If you represent a local third sector organisation and are interested in attending, please contact Mark Stillman at Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS) by emailing enquiries@gvs.wales. This will ensure you are officially nominated to attend the workshop.
