Play Your Part in Strengthening the Voluntary Sector: GVS Recruiting New Trustees
GVS seeks new trustees to help strengthen communities across the Vale of Glamorgan.
Do you care about your community and want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others?
Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS) is inviting passionate, committed individuals to join its Board of Trustees and play a key role in supporting charities, volunteers and community action across the Vale of Glamorgan.
As a trustee, you will help shape the future of the local voluntary sector, ensuring organisations have the guidance, resources and support they need to thrive. Trustees provide strategic leadership, champion community needs and help ensure that vital services remain strong, sustainable and responsive.
GVS welcomes applications from people of all ages, backgrounds and experiences who share a commitment to strengthening communities. Whether you bring professional expertise, lived experience or simply a desire to contribute, your insight can help create positive change.
We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with experience or understanding of:
sustainability and the environment
inequality, inclusion and social justice
housing, property or regeneration
commercial development or entrepreneurship
digital change and innovation
We also warmly encourage applications from under‑represented groups, young people and those considering their first trustee role. Full support and induction will be provided.
To help potential applicants learn more, we are hosting a relaxed information session that offers a friendly introduction to what being a GVS trustee involves. This gentle taster online session will take place on Tuesday 14th July at 6pm, and anyone interested is very welcome to attend. Simply indicate in any of the communication methods below that you’d like to join the session.
As part of our governance arrangements, at least two‑thirds of our Board members are nominated by GVS member organisations, with the remaining places filled through open competition. Member organisations are therefore invited to nominate a representative, and individuals may also apply directly. Elections will take place at our AGM on 16 October 2026, with all nomination forms and applications due by midday on 18 September 2026.
