Older People’s Fund

The Grant shall be used to support groups that can evidence a sustained beneficial impact on older people’s lives who are excluded or disadvantaged. We will support organisations supporting people who are 65 years and older. We will prioritise small, locally based groups or organisations in areas of disadvantage that have a clear understanding of the needs of older people within their community, and who are undertaking actions as a means of addressing these needs.

In 2020 Community Foundation Wales published the findings of a piece of research undertaken with more than 100 community groups across Wales. Our Loud and Clear report highlighted that charities and community groups in Wales want funders to prioritise core funding and longer-term partnerships. We have used the learning in this report to help us to shape this fund and to show groups that we believe in their core purpose and want to support them to work more effectively in their communities longer term.

We recognise how important it is for groups to be able to plan for the future and that having secure funding can give you the confidence and reassurance to develop your project over the long-term. To be considered for a three year grant please complete the additional section of the application form indicating how you plan to develop your project over the period of funding being applied for.

We also recognise the challenge of finding core funding, especially longer term. Groups can now apply for funding towards core costs for up to 3 years, providing the group can provide accounts for at least the last 12 months.

What grants are available?

  • Grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 will be available per year. You can apply for up to 3 years.

  • Grants towards project costs or towards the organisations core cost if the main aim of the organisation meets the aims of the fund.

Priorities

Depending on the quality and volume of applications received priority will be given to:

  • Those that are new to Community Foundation Wales funding

  • Those in areas of high deprivation

  • Those in geographically underfunded areas

  • Those that can clearly state how they will use the grant to build capacity during the period of support.

Who can apply?

You must be a locally led and based organisation. This means you are based within the area you are carrying out activities and have local people involved in the running of the organisation. You should be one of the following:

  • constituted voluntary and community groups

  • charities

  • social enterprises

  • co-operatives

  • community interest companies

Please note that:-

  • Your organisation will need to have been running activities for a minimum of 24 months to apply for core costs.

  • Your annual income must be £100,000 or under for your last full financial year. You will need to provide your accounts to prove this.

How to apply?

All applicants must complete an application form.

We are open for applications from a month prior to the deadline of 12th January 2022. Applicants will be informed of the outcome within 2 months of the deadline.

We won’t be able to accept applications submitted outside the above time period.
