Fidelio welcomes applications for grants in support of the Arts, particularly for Music, including Opera, Lieder and Composition, and Theatre.

Who can apply

Fidelio aims to provide support for individuals (over the age of 21) or groups of exceptional ability, to enable them for example:

  • To receive special tuition or coaching (e.g. in the case of musicians to attend Master Classes)

  • To participate in external competitions

  • To be supported for a specially arranged performance

  • To receive support for a special publication, musical composition or work of art

Applications need to be supported by Institutions, Colleges, Arts Festivals or other similar arts organisations in the United Kingdom with recognised relevant expertise. Applications from individuals or groups seeking funding for themselves or their children without such support will not be considered. Applications are not generally considered for activities for people under the age of 21, or for course fees, capital items or retrospective expenditure.

Trustee meetings are normally held three times a year, in the spring, summer and autumn.The closing dates for receipt of applications in 2026 are 12.00 midday on:

  • January 16 2026

  • May 15 2026

  • September 25 2026

Closing dates are subject to change so please check the website before submitting your application.

For returning applicants, please download a new application form from the website.

Applications should be submitted by completing the Fidelio Application Form and should include the following:

The name of the contact person and institution making the application.

The names of the individual/s or group/s for whom the application is made i.e. those benefitting from the grant. Please include links to websites giving more information about the beneficiaries, with excerpts from existing work/past performances, where applicable.

How the proposed beneficiaries were or will be selected.

The objectives of the proposed grant.

The total amount being applied for (this should not exceed £5,000) and full details of how it is intended to be spent (it is important to give as much detail as possible).

What other sources of funding have been sought, details of other funding obtained or reasons for not seeking alternative support.

The period of time for which the grant is sought (grants will not normally be considered for longer than one year).

There is no Nationality restriction and the work for which money is sought may take place overseas but the proposed beneficiaries must be based in the UK.

The trustees aim to inform successful applicants within two months of the relevant closing date. If you do not receive any acknowledgement within two month of the relevant closing date, you must assume that your application is not successful as we do not contact unsuccessful applicants.

The trustees consider that the advice and instructions given here should enable applicants to decide for themselves on the eligibility of their proposed applications and the trustees will not reply to general questions about eligibility. Nor will the trustees discuss reasons for applications being unsuccessful.

The Fidelio Application Form may be accompanied by a one side A4-page letter (one only). Previous grant recipients should include a copy of their last grant report with their re-application. Please save your form and any attachments in PDF and re-name the form and attachments with your organisation name (the nominating institution making the application) in the title and put the same name in the header of the email when you submit it. The Application form and attachments must be saved in PDF fomat and sent by email (not post) to: admin@fideliocharitabletrust.org.uk
