Informal Public Consultation launched for Larnog Solar Farm in Lavernock
Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru, a renewable energy company owned by the Welsh Government, is launching a consultation with local people about its proposals for a new solar farm on Welsh Government owned land in Lavernock, between Sully and Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan.
The solar farm would make an important contribution to securing energy by providing up to 35MW of green electricity, enough to power approximately 13,800 homes.
Residents are invited to attend local drop-in events which will include project information boards and maps.
The events will take place at:
· 3:00pm – 7:00pm, Monday 12 January at Sully Sports and Social Club CF64 5SP
· 9:30am-1:00pm, Saturday 17 January at Lower Penarth Community Hall CF64 5QD
The consultation is also being hosted online at www.trydanlarnog.wales, where you can view project information and complete a feedback form. All feedback must reach the team by 5pm on Friday 23 January 2026.
Alongside the generation of clean, green, solar energy, Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru has ambitions to enhance nature on site, by improving and creating habitats for bees, insects, birds and mammals, improving access around the site for walkers and protecting the enjoyment of the Wales Coastal Path.
As Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru operates solely in the interests of Wales, profits generated will be returned to the Welsh Government and can be ploughed back into public services.
