National Deaf Children’s Society – Community Grants
The National Deaf Children’s Society is offering funding for projects supporting deaf children and their families.
The early years are a crucial time for all children. For deaf children, this is even more true. Without adjustments, accommodations and the right support, young deaf children can find it more difficult to develop their language, communication and social skills. This is why, for this funding cycle, we're focusing on projects that support deaf children in the early years (aged 0-5). This can be directly or indirectly, and projects can also involve older deaf children, deaf young people, families and professionals. This is a rolling programme, which means you can apply at any time throughout the year. We have set assessment dates. When you submit your application, we’ll let you know when to expect a response.
Whether you're ready now or planning ahead, we're here to support your community initiative when the time is right for you.
Who can apply
To be able to apply, all applicants must:
be based in the UK
be a group or organisation with a UK bank or building society account
have a safeguarding policy, procedures, training and checks in place (if you work with or are in contact with children and/or vulnerable adults)
conduct risk assessments as standard for all activities
have appropriate insurance in place
have a governing document or constitution
produce annual accounts
Restrictions
“I’m not part of a group, charity or organisation, but I have a great idea to support deaf children! Can I apply?”
Unfortunately, we can’t accept applications from individuals, unless they have a business or organisation bank account. However, we encourage you to look for opportunities within your community to help get your idea started. There may be an organisation in your area who would be interested in working together to develop a project for deaf children and their families.
You could also consider setting up your own group or charity. Charity Excellence Framework has step-by-step guidance, templates and tools to help you explore your options and make it easier to set up your charity.

How to apply
You can find out if your group is eligible for funding before you apply using our online eligibility check.
You must complete the eligibility check before you apply. You will only be able to access the application form if you are eligible. A link will be provided on completion of the check if you meet our requirements.
If you are eligible, make sure to read through all our supporting information to help you develop your project idea and ensure your application is as strong as possible.
