At Motion Control Dance, we believe movement is for everyone. Based at the YMCA Barry, our charity runs a wide range of inclusive dance and movement classes for all ages and abilities — across Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan.
Our supportive team of experienced dance specialists bring energy, care and creativity to every session. From Tai Chi (QiGong Shibashi) to Creative Movement, there’s something to suit every style, pace and personality.
Move, Mobilise, Strengthen and Thrive — Classes for 50+
We’re passionate about helping adults over 50 stay active, social and inspired through movement. Whether you want to improve balance, strength, boost wellbeing or simply have fun, our classes are relaxed, welcoming and designed with you in mind. Classes cost £5 per class.
🌿 Qigong Shibashi / Tai Chi – Mondays, 9:30am, CF61 Llantwit Major
Start your week with calm and focus. A new free beginners class funded through GVS Warm Spaces, this gentle session improves flexibility, posture and mindfulness — perfect for easing into movement at your own pace. Come along and give it a try — no experience needed!
We also deliver monthly Tai Chi and Creative Movement mornings at Ageing Well in Llantwit Major, as part of their weekly social activities.
💫 Creative Movement & Exercise – Mondays, 11:45am–12:45pm, YMCA Barry
Enjoy an uplifting mix of gentle seated and standing exercises to music, designed to improve strength, mobility and coordination.
Our friendly group loves to stay for a cuppa and a chat afterwards at the Case Café — it’s a great way to make new friends and keep connected.
💃 Dance for Menopause with ‘Meno-Gize’ – Mondays, 6:00–7:15pm, YMCA Barry
An energetic and fun women-only class for anyone experiencing peri- or menopausal symptoms. Dance along to favourite tunes from the 70s, 80s and 90s — and rediscover your groove in a supportive, body-positive space.
Delivered in partnership with the wonderful MenoPals group, who meet monthly in Sully.

A joyful creative movement class for adults with additional learning needs and their carers. This inclusive session encourages expression, rhythm, and connection through dance, in a supportive and relaxed environment. Everyone is welcome to join in and move in their own way.
💫 Dance for Health / Parkinson’s – Wednesdays, 2:00pm, YMCA Barry
Rediscover the joy of movement in this gentle, rhythmic session designed to improve mobility, coordination, and confidence.
Led by our caring dance specialists, the session features creative themes and simple choreography to stimulate both body and mind. Whether you come for the physical benefits, the music, or the friendly atmosphere, you’ll leave feeling lighter, more connected, and inspired to keep moving.
