Family Support Volunteers

This national charity with a local heart, supports families across Wales. Children need happy, healthy homes in order to thrive.

Being a parent is challenging at the best of times. Families are under financial pressure in the current financial crisis leaving them more isolated than ever.

That’s where Home-Start Cymru can help. We are looking to recruit new volunteers, who will offer families emotional support. We ask that volunteers have experience with families. Whether this is as a parent themselves, through work experience, family life/extended family, or has had experience in caring for children at some point in their lives.

All volunteers will receive comprehensive remote training, guidance materials and will be supervised regularly by staff.  Our volunteers are drawn from the communities in which they support and come from a variety of backgrounds. The work we do, not only helps families, but makes a vital difference to our volunteers, and helps strengthen connections between local people in the community.

This opportunity covers the Cardiff area. If you think you’d like to volunteer, we would love to hear from you.

Time commitment:  A suggested weekly time commitment is 2 - 3 hours.  Available Monday – Sunday, days and hours are negotiable with the organisation.
Expenses reimbursed: Travel expenses are reimbursed.
Training provided: Full training is provided.
Selection procedure: Informal discussion, application form completion, 2 references and a Disclosure and Barring check (cost met by organisation)
