Employers can receive a £3,000 Youth Jobs Grant
You may already be aware of the latest government funding available to employers, but I wanted to ensure that all employers based in, or with branches or jobs within, the Vale of Glamorgan are aware of the Youth Jobs Grant and do not miss this opportunity.
Employers can receive a £3,000 Youth Jobs Grant when they recruit an eligible young person into a role registered with the scheme.
To qualify, the young person must be:
Aged 18 to 24
Claiming Universal Credit
Unemployed for at least six months
The role must:
Be a minimum of 25 hours per week
Pay at least the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage
Last for a minimum of four months

Many local employers already support young people through Jobcentre work experience placements. If you currently have a young person undertaking unpaid work experience within your organisation, this funding may help you retain them in paid employment (subject to eligibility).

Arranging unpaid work experience placements
Identifying suitable unemployed young people aged 18 to 24
Forwarding CVs of interested candidates for your consideration
Supporting the simple agreement process required before a placement starts
You remain in control of who you choose to support, and we will make the initial introductions.

Many young people are eager to work but often struggle to secure interviews due to a lack of employment history. Work experience can provide a valuable stepping stone into employment while helping employers identify future talent.
