Community Cinema for rural Vale to show films year-round thanks to funding
The Vale’s pop-up Community Cinema is set to show a brilliant range of films across 2026, 2027 and 2028 thanks to a National Lottery Community Fund award.
Announced for the autumn are Hamnet [September], Wicked For Good & Rocky Horror Picture Show [Halloween doublebill}, Finding Your Feet [November] and It’s A Wonderful Life [Christmas].
Films feature on the last Saturday of the month at the pop-up cinema at Llantonian Hall in Llantwit Major. Run by local volunteers since last December, the community cinema offers super affordable films without the need to travel significant distances.
September : Hamnet [Sat 26 Sept 7pm]
The award-winning adaptation of O’Farrell’s beautiful novel with stand-out performances from Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal.
Halloween Double Bill: Wicked For Good [3pm] Rocky Horror Picture Show [7pm]
This special double bill offers something fun for Halloween - dress up welcome!
November: Finding Your Feet [Sat 28 Nov 7pm]
British rom-com starring Imelda Staunton, Celia Imrie, Timothy Spall and Joanna Lumley
December: It’s A Wonderful Life [Sat 12 Dec 7pm]
The all-time Christmas classic, with James Stewart and Donna Reed

Community cinema tickets are available online via Eventbrite or in person at Bardic Books and Nickelby’s Books in Llantwit Major. Admission includes free film plus hot drinks and popcorn.
