Comic Relief Cwtch Communities Fund
Funding from our new ‘Comic Relief Cwtch Communities’ scheme is strengthening the work of grassroots organisations in Wales and supporting them to deliver social change.
We’ve launched a new grant scheme to help local organisations provide warm, safe, and caring support to the people who need it most. Comic Relief Cwtch Communities, managed by WCVA and funded by Comic Relief, is now open for applications until 22 May 2026. The fund aims to empower community groups to grow their impact, respond to immediate needs, and build stronger, more resilient neighbourhoods across Wales.
ABOUT THE GRANT SCHEME
Comic Relief Cwtch Communities offers small cwtches of support to Welsh voluntary organisations with an income of under £250,000. The programme recognises the vital role that grassroots groups play in creating positive change, from offering a listening ear during a crisis to helping families feel supported during difficult times.
Funding is available for organisations that work in one or more of the scheme’s three priority areas: basic needs, health (early childhood development), and safety. These themes focus on the essential things people need to feel secure, supported, and able to thrive.
WHAT’S AVAILABLE
Grants of £15,000 to £35,000 are available to organisations delivering direct services and practical support within their communities. This includes:
Projects meeting basic needs, such as food banks, community kitchens, or schemes providing warm clothing, hygiene items, or household essentials.
Activities promoting early childhood development, including parent‑and‑toddler groups, community‑run learning sessions, or peer‑support projects led by parents with lived experience.
Services improving safety and inclusion, such as women’s centres, refugee or asylum seeker support groups, or safe community spaces for women, LGBTQ+ people, or others at risk.

Applications can be made through MAP, WCVA’s Multipurpose Application Portal. To register and see current funding opportunities from WCVA please go to map.wcva.cymru.
