Cardiff Chiefs RFC Need You!
Recruiting Players, Partners and Volunteers for Cardiff Chiefs RFC (Mixed Ability)
Beyond Rugby: Join Cardiff Chiefs – Building Community & Breaking Barriers
Cardiff Chiefs RFC is proud to be the only WRU-registered Mixed Ability rugby club in the Cardiff region which incorporates the Vale of Glamorgan— and we’re inviting players, volunteers, and community partners to be part of something genuinely special.
We are more than a rugby team. We are a growing, inclusive community built on the belief that everyone deserves the chance to belong, contribute, and thrive through sport.
What Is Mixed Ability Rugby?
Mixed Ability Rugby is a powerful and progressive model that brings people of all abilities and needs together on the same team — training, playing, and socialising as equals. It breaks away from traditional separation in sport and instead focuses on ability, passion, and personal goals.
For some players, it’s about competition and sporting achievement. For others, it’s about learning new skills, improving fitness, building confidence, or finding a supportive social network. Whatever the motivation, everyone wears the same shirt and shares the same journey. The benefits go far beyond the pitch: improved physical and mental health, increased confidence, stronger social connections, and a true sense of belonging.
Who Can Get Involved?
We are actively growing and welcome involvement from across the Cardiff Rugby Region’s diverse communities.
Players
We welcome people of all abilities, aged 16+, whether you’ve played rugby before or are completely new to the game.
• Weekly training: Sundays at 1:00 PM
• Location: Llandaff Fields
• Coaching: Delivered by WRU-qualified coaches
• Matches: Around 10–15 friendly and competitive fixtures per season across South Wales and the West of England
All sessions are adapted to ensure everyone can take part safely and confidently.
Volunteers & Supporters
Volunteers are the heartbeat of our club. We are looking for people who can support with:
• Coaching and assistant roles
• Administration and organisation including committee members
• Matchday support and logistics
Giving your time is a meaningful way to help grow an inclusive community asset and directly impact people’s lives.
Service Providers, Charities & Community Organisations
We are particularly keen to work with charities, service providers, sports clubs and community networks who can help raise awareness and ensure everyone in Cardiff knows there is a place for them at the Chiefs.
Importantly, we are seeking professional expertise. At present, we do not have specialist carers, educators, or social workers formally involved in the club. Partnerships or individual support in these areas would be vital for safeguarding, sustainability, and future growth.
If your organisation can support us — or help connect us with individuals who can — your involvement could be transformative.
