Help The Homeless

Help the Homeless - What we do

Help the Homeless is a grant-giving trust, founded in 1975, to help homeless people off the streets and enable them to live healthy, independent lives. We fund a wide variety of organisations and favour small, grassroots charities working to help the most vulnerable people in their communities.

Who can apply

  • Your organisation must be registered with the Charity Commission in England, Wales or Northern Ireland or a registered Scottish Charity.

  • We are able to help only small charities with an annual turnover of less than £500,000.

  • We can only accept applications towards the funding of capital projects. We are unable to accept applications towards running/core costs. Note: we are also unable to consider requests for computers and IT equipment.

  • We provide small grants of up to £5,000. We do not consider multi-year requests.

  • There should be a minimum period of two years between the receipt of a decision or grant from us and making a further application.

Eligible Expenditure

We can only accept applications towards the funding of ‘capital’ projects. We are unable to accept applications towards running/core costs. Note: we are unable to consider requests for computers and IT equipment.

All applications must relate to projects that assist individuals in their return to mainstream society, rather than simply offering shelter or other forms of sustenance.

How to apply

All applicants must complete our official application form which should be downloaded via the link below. Applicants should clearly describe the aims and structure of their organisation, their future plans and specific details of how any grant will be spent. A copy of the latest available audited accounts is also required. Please note we no longer accept applications by post.
