Big Barry Clean Litter Pick - July 2025

The Big Barry Clean - that the Barry Partnership are supporting in collaboration with Barry Town Council and Keep Wales Tidy. We are organising this for the month of July and would like to encourage as many individual volunteers and groups as possible to undertake a litter picking activity in Barry during this period.

Barry Town Council are already a hub for Keep Wales Tidy and hold litter picking kits that anyone can borrow Litter Picking Equipment Loan Service - Barry Town Council. We are aiming to extend the provision of litter picking kits and are working with a number of community centres and other venues across Barry, to hold a small number of kits that groups will be able to book and borrow.

Litter-picking groups will be provided with health and safety guidance and will need to fill out a quick risk assessment and sign a litter picking loan agreement. Bags will also be provided and these can be left next to public bins to be collected by the Council waste team.

To support The Big Barry Clean, we’ll also be encouraging residents and groups to report not only litter hotspots, but also graffiti, fly-tipping, and overgrown spaces, through this link: Report. This will help us build a schedule of areas for professional cleaning teams to target.

Would you be interested in arranging a litter-picking event for your group/school?

Please get in touch with us if you would like to be part of the Big Barry Clean. We can let you know where you can collect kits and also suggest areas of Barry where litter picking is most needed, or you can select an area that is closest to where you live. Please email: rmoore@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk

Also, if you think you may be interested in litter-picking on a more regular basis and would be interested in keeping a number of litters picking kits after the July event has ended, please let us know.
