Adult Learners’ Week information for the voluntary sector – Get involved this September
Adult Learners' Week 2026 will take place from 21 to 27 September 2026, with promotional activity running throughout the month. Organised by Learning and Work Institute in partnership with the Welsh Government, the annual campaign provides an opportunity for people to embrace new learning opportunities while showcasing the powerful impact of lifelong learning on individuals, communities and organisations across Wales. Voluntary organisations play a key role in helping people build confidence, develop skills, improve wellbeing and inclusion, and strengthen connections within their communities. Adult Learners' Week provides a valuable platform to showcase this impact, reach new audiences and inspire more adults to discover the benefits of learning at all stages of life, helping to create positive social change across Wales.
We are inviting voluntary organisations and community groups to get involved in the campaign. Whether you support volunteers, service users or staff, Adult Learners' Week offers a national platform to celebrate lifelong learning, share success stories and encourage participation in learning opportunities.
Join a nationwide campaign to champion lifelong learning in communities across Wales
Host a taster session, workshop, information event or community activity that encourages adults to develop new skills and confidence.
Celebrate the vital contribution the voluntary sector makes to lifelong learning and share the achievements of learners, volunteers and staff whose learning journeys can inspire others.
Share resources, research, projects, blogs, case studies or examples of good practice that demonstrate the value of learning through volunteering opportunities.
Showcase how learning is helping your organisation support individuals, strengthen communities and create positive change.
Reach adults who may face barriers to learning and help them take their first step towards new opportunities, whether through volunteering, informal learning or a drop-in session to find out more.
Raise the profile of your organisation's work by registering your activities on the Adult Learners' Week platform and becoming part of a national programme of activity.
Build partnerships with local organisations and services to bring learning opportunities closer to the communities you support.
