Job title: Independent Advocate

Salary: £24,945 - £28,604

Hours: 37 hours a week

Benefits:

6% pension contribution on top of annual salary

Competitive pay scale including annual salary increments

25 days paid annual leave per year (not including bank holidays)

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in providing essential advocacy services in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to provide one to one independent advocacy support for adults with a learning disability and/or Autism spectrum conditions.

No two days are ever the same in this role; you will need to be able to think creatively to help people to solve their problems, overcome their challenges and successfully achieve their goals.

Our advocacy services provide support for people to make their own decisions on a wide range of issues,

including:

Issues with appropriate care or support services

moving house or problems with accommodation,

concerns regarding money or welfare benefits,

access to employment, education or other activities

safeguarding issues

You will need the ability to

·       engage effectively with people who have communication issues.

·       research/obtain relevant information regarding a person’s issue.

·       provide accessible information for people using the service, according to their individual requirements.

·       engage effectively with professionals from outside agencies, service user’s families and other people in contact with Advocacy Matters Wales

·       respect a person’s right to make their own decisions.

·       adopt a calm and positive approach in challenging situations.

·       demonstrate self-motivation and the use of your own initiative.

·       be highly organised and have strong time management skills.
