Three national award nominations for Bro Radio
Bro Radio has been named as a finalist in three categories at the 2026 Community Radio Awards, recognising the station’s work to develop new broadcasting talent, create opportunities in the community and deliver ambitious public-interest journalism across Wales.
The ceremony follows the National Community Radio Conference and marks ten years since the Community Radio Awards were launched in Birmingham in 2016. The independent, judge-led awards celebrate excellence in programming, journalism, volunteering and community engagement across the UK community radio sector.
Newcomer of the Year
Charley Greatrix is shortlisted for Newcomer of the Year after joining the Bro Radio Academy in November 2025. Since completing the programme, Charley has gone on to co-host Bro Radio’s Community Awards in May, Glastonbarry Juniors in July and presents a show every Monday lunchtime.
Community Impact Project of the Year
The Bro Radio Academy is a finalist for Community Impact Project of the Year. The Academy gives adults and young people opportunities to learn practical media and broadcasting skills, build confidence, work towards qualifications and contribute to their community. The category recognises projects that identify local needs, engage their target communities and demonstrate meaningful outcomes and impact.
Election or Political Coverage of the Year
Bro Radio’s Wales-wide election coverage is shortlisted for Election or Political Coverage of the Year. Produced by Bro Radio on behalf of the Wales Community Radio Network, the coverage brought together leaders and senior representatives from the six main political parties in Wales, making their views available to community radio audiences across the country.

The winners will be announced on Saturday 24 October at Gas Street Central in Birmingham.
