The three young volunteers who are making more than just a splash!

The relentless commitment of three young volunteers to coach and help Barry Amateur Swimming Club (BASC) has ensured swimming sessions continue to take place enabling almost 50 local young children to continue their fun-filled swimming practice each week.

Harry Morris, Alfie Sargeant and Charlie Bowmer, all aged between 15 to 17 years, volunteer for all three of BASC weekly swimming sessions to ensure the Club survives and even thrives.  Collectively the young people have been volunteering for over four years despite their young ages.

The young people, who are part of a wider volunteering team, have adeptly encouraged, motivated, planned and delivered swimming sessions with relentless commitment.

Unfortunately, as a direct result of their volunteering, they are missing out on participating in some swimming sessions which they would have loved to attend but their selfless commitment to the Club is utterly amazing and sincerely humbling. It’s quite obvious for all to see that these young volunteers deserve recognition for their dedication but their only interest is serving the Club they love.

The three young people, before long, could be furthering their education in a new Town, City or Country and BASC could face a huge loss. With that possibly on the horizon, BASC is already looking to encourage anyone with an interest in helping the Club, to try out, without any need to commit. There is a variety of volunteering opportunities on offer, all from a couple of hours a week and the rewards of volunteering are priceless!
