South Wales Police Invite Barry Organisations to Partner on Youth Safety and Mentoring
The following announcement is specifically for the Barry and is in response to conversations that have been held at a community forum.
An invitation is being made by South Wales Police (SWP) to community organisations and charities with experience in youth mentoring programmes (including ‘lived experience’) to get in touch with the local Inspector – to see if collaborative project work can be developed that might focus on the following issues:
Knife Crime
County Lines
E bikes
Misogyny / Culture
Responses are especially invited from those organisations who have proficiency in evidencing intended or actual outcomes – so that proposed projects can better consider and demonstrate impact. Similarly, it would be helpful to receive an indication of any cost requirements and the planning and delivery timelines if you have a specific proposal or idea in mind.
The preference is to make use of existing resources wherever possible, but SWP are scoping whether additional funding opportunities are available to support this priority.
The location for this programme has not yet been finalised; however, we are considering a range of appropriate youth settings including schools and youth clubs in the Barry area.
If your organisation has an interest, then we would like to hear more from you by 30th January 2026. For further information or to respond, please contact Huw Tyler (huw.tyler2@south-wales.police.uk) or call 07825 262498.
