Penarth Community Group Seeks Local Heroes: Volunteers Needed for Warm Space and Penarth Food Pod
The Penarth Community Group is issuing an urgent call for volunteers to support two vital community services this winter: the Penarth Warm Space and the Penarth Food Pod. As the cost of living continues to rise, these services are becoming increasingly critical lifelines for residents, and the Group needs local support to meet the growing demand.
🤝 The Need for Volunteers
The Warm Space offers a safe, heated, and welcoming environment for anyone in the community to gather, enjoy refreshments, and connect with others during the colder months. The Penarth Food Pod provides essential food, ensuring no one in Penarth goes without.
"Our Warm Space and Food Pod are cornerstones of community support right now," says the lead/chairperson of Penarth Community Group, "However, we simply cannot keep these services running effectively without more dedicated hands. Volunteering is a tangible way to make a direct, positive impact on your neighbours' lives during a challenging time."
✨ How You Can Help
Volunteers are needed for a variety of roles across both initiatives:
● Warm Space Support:
○ Welcoming visitors and chatting with attendees.
○ Preparing and serving hot drinks and light refreshments.
○ General setup and tidy-up of the space.
● Penarth Food Pod Assistance:
○ Sorting and stocking donations (food, toiletries, etc.).
○ Assisting visitors with their shopping.
○ Collecting and transporting donations (if you have a valid driver's license and vehicle, but this is optional).
No prior experience is necessary. The Group welcomes applications from people of all ages (over 18) and backgrounds, requiring only enthusiasm, reliability, and a commitment to helping the local community.
