Shine Charity Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus Week

Awareness about NPH is important because it is one of the few potentially treatable causes of dementia symptoms, yet it is often overlooked, viewed as age-related changes, or misdiagnosed as Alzheimer’s disease or Parkinson’s. Early recognition of the triad of symptoms- gait changes, cognitive decline, and urinary incontinence - can lead to timely evaluation and potentially life changing treatment. Increased knowledge empowers patients, carers, and healthcare professionals to recognise symptoms, leading to an earlier diagnosis, improved outcomes, and increased quality of life.

We know that NPH needs to be better understood from pathology to treatment. We believe this will be achieved through further research, listening to the patient experience, and greater awareness of the condition. Shine is positioning itself strategically to tackle each of these pillars to better support our members and impact system change moving forward.

Shine has several informative webinars planned throughout the week of 18-24 May, all of which are free to attend. Find out more and sign up below!
