It’s Trustees Week! 6-10 November 2023

With sector leaders facing many challenges, the strategic insight of trustees has never been so vital. But their importance is often underestimated.

They dedicate hours of their time and resources, while taking on enormous responsibilities to enable the brilliant work that goes into supporting communities across the country. They do all this while keeping sight of the bigger picture.

With many organisations experiencing significant operational challenges, it’s so much more important than ever to step back and acknowledge the unseen work of our trustees.  Trustees’ Week is a chance to thank them for their commitment to the sector.

GVS would like to thank our fabulous board of trustees, for all the time they dedicate to supporting GVS governance.  Their wealth of expertise, wisdom and diverse perspectives are invaluable assets to our organisation.

Some statistics from the charity commission research:

·       There are almost one million trustees in England and Wales

·       93% of trustees say the role is important or very important to them

·       70% of trustees volunteer for smaller charities

·       The estimated value of trustee time is £3.5 billion a year
