Help for Heroes providing life changing support

We support the Armed Forces Community, that we sometimes call AFC and or Veteran's. The AFC includes the RAF, Navy and the Army, including the reserves.

PROVIDING LIFE-CHANGING SUPPORT TO the AFC/VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES FOR AS LONG AS IT TAKES

We don’t just look at one aspect of a veteran’s recovery. We look at everything:

·   Clinical advisors who can help support veterans with Physical recovery journeys.

·   Mental health and wellbeing.  Hidden wounds service giving psychological support and MH services such as counselling using techniques such as CBT etc

·   Case Managers and clinical support staff such as Occupational Therapists

·   specialist care for significantly injured Veterans

·   Skills training & Recovery college.

·   Sports activities programme

·   Community support & social networks

OUR MISSION: TO HELP EVERYONE LIVE WELL AFTER MILITARY SERVICE

Community Development

We have a Community Builder, Chris covering Cardiff and the Vale who is looking to connect, learn and support Veterans in the area taking an Asset Based approach - So working with what’s strong and not what’s wrong, connecting the AFC with each other and the wider community.

We also know the Armed forces community are some of the most skilled individuals in society and often the skills are then left redundant when they leave military service we would love to try and tap into those skills and help release them.

Partnership

We would really like to appeal to other community groups, grass roots or charitable groups who may like to connect with us or connect their members to us.

Currently

We have a range of drop in/social ‘cafes’ where the AFC can get a free cuppa and a biscuit. All events are open access so please do drop in, all welcome.
