East Vale Community Transport Visit Barry War Museum Thanks to Council Grant

A great morning was had by all during a recent trip to the Barry War Museum, made possible thanks to a grant from the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

Despite the wet Wednesday weather, volunteer driver Chris safely transported 12 passengers to Barry Island, where the group enjoyed a fascinating tour, talk, coffee and cake at the Barry War Museum — located right on Barry Island train station.

Many of the participants would not normally have been able to visit the museum without the support of East Vale Community Transport’s dedicated volunteers and wheelchair-accessible minibuses.

Glenn and his team of volunteers at the museum kindly opened early especially for the group and provided an engaging, hands-on experience with wartime clothing and artefacts. There was plenty of time for questions and lively discussions, and everyone was made to feel extremely welcome.

All East Vale Community Transport trips are currently free of charge thanks to the Council’s grant, although donations are always appreciated to help the charity continue its work tackling transport barriers and social isolation across the Vale.

The Barry War Museum comes highly recommended — there’s something for everyone, young and old alike.
