Centenary Year Begins as Barry Swimming Club Celebrates 100th AGM
Barry Amateur Swimming Club has officially launched its centenary year after holding its 100th Annual General Meeting at Sully Sports and Social Club on Monday 19 January 2026.
While two World Wars and Covid mean there may not quite have been 100 formal meetings, the milestone was celebrated in style — alongside the presentation of Club Championship awards from November.
Chairman Heulwen Cooper welcomed a packed room and spoke of an exciting year ahead, beginning with a Centenary Celebration Evening at Barry Memorial Hall on Saturday 18th April. Tickets are £10 (including buffet and wine) and available via: barryasccentenary@yahoo.com
She revealed the club is currently at full capacity, with a long waiting list of young swimmers keen to join, and thanked the poolside team, coaches, volunteers, captains and committee members for their dedication and enthusiasm.
