Carers Week 2021

7-13 June marks Carers Week. Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.

We have a range of great things going on leading up to and during Carers Week, including:

Carers Art Competition

As part of Carers Week we are running a special carers art competition! We have some great prizes up for grabs including an overnight stay at the wonderful Cwrt Bleddyn Hotel near Usk and a screenprinting course from Printhaus – plus LOTS more. We are encouraging any carer with an interest in art or photography to enter, no matter what skill level. There will be prizes awarded for different age groups. Big Steps for Carers
Carers Trust South East Wales is asking our friends and supporters to help us take 683,000 steps in support of unpaid carers during Carers Week. 683,000 steps represents the number of carers currently estimated to be in Wales – an increase of over 200,000 people as a result of the pandemic. All you need to do is record your steps during the week – here’s how: www.ctsew.org.uk/News/big-steps-for-carers

We’re also encouraging all our staff to talk about their work and the impact it has on social media through Carers Week. Please find a range of social media graphics attached for you to use. There will be a timetable of what’s happening locally and when at the end of next week.

The theme for Carers Week 2021 is Making Caring Visible and Valued. You can find out more about Carers Week and how to get involved here: www.carersweek.org/get-involved
