Can you help volunteer in Rhoose?

RHOOSE COMMUNITY LIBRARY AND ACTIVITY CENTRE

Registered Charity No. 1166547

We are a registered charity and with the support of our volunteers we provide the services of a community library and activity centre for Rhoose and the surrounding villages.  We have a close relationship with the wider community including local business and community groups, we also work closely with the two local primary schools.

We are looking for volunteers to get involved in a variety of different roles. Involving volunteers helps us achieve our goals and also has a positive impact on our library service, our customers, the local community and on individuals.

Whatever time or skills you have, there is a role for you. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and contribute to your local community.

In return for your support, we can offer full training, community engagement and being part of a very friendly team.

Some of the roles we have available include the following: -

Library volunteers – to provide library service working with fellow volunteers on one of our shifts.  We are currently open six mornings Monday to Saturday from 10.00am to 12.00pm and three afternoons Monday, Wednesday and Friday 2.00pm to 4.00pm.

Café volunteers – Ideally a person who has previous experience in a commercial kitchen to develop our small kitchen in the Activity Centre.  To be responsible for maintaining good standards of hygiene and organising tea and coffee making facilities and stocks.  The kitchen, at present, has only occasional use for but we hope to provide more community based services to library users and the public during the library opening hours.  We also require volunteers who want to be part of the new kitchen service.

Cleaner volunteers – to keep the Library, Activity Centre and all facilities clean and tidy on a twice per week basis.

Fundraising volunteers – would suit someone with experience in fundraising for a charity.

Trustee volunteers - We are also keen to hear from volunteers who are interested in joining our team of Trustees.  The position would ideally suit a retired person with experience in management, administration, safety or technical role.  Ideally candidates can assist the Trustees in developing our website and social media as well as volunteers who have experience in grant applications.

Whatever you feel able to offer by way of volunteering please let us know.   We look forward to hearing from you.

(All volunteers, including trustees, are subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.)
