Ymgynghoriad GVS - Ymgysylltu yn y Dyfodol Rhwng y Sector Gwirfoddol a Chyngor Bro Morganwg

We are seeking views from the local Voluntary Sector on the future of the Voluntary Sector Joint Liaison Committee (VSJLC).

The VSJLC has been in existence for approximately 30 years. The Committee is made up of elected members of the Vale of Glamorgan Council and representatives from the Voluntary Sector. The Committee oversees the Compact or Partnership Agreement that the Council has with the local Voluntary Sector.

The Committee has been a very useful mechanism for taking Voluntary Sector issues directly to Members of the Council, however GVS has found it more and more difficult, over recent years, to recruit Voluntary Sector representatives to the Committee and has received very few issues to take before the committee other than those that impact our sector in a very general manner.

Discussions have started with the Council to see if there is another way of undertaking the development of relationships between the Council and the local Voluntary Sector.  One suggestion has been to remove the VSJLC and to replace it with regular meetings between GVS and the Council Leader and CEO, with GVS regularly canvassing the Sector for issues to put before them.

We are seeking your opinion on this before any final decisions are made.
