Consultation to renew existing Public Space Protection Orders

In March 2021 the Vale of Glamorgan Council introduced Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) regarding dog fouling and controlled alcohol zones to several public open spaces. The purpose of a PSPO is to restrict persistent anti-social behaviour in public spaces.

Legislation states that we must review these orders every three years.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council proposes to keep all current orders it has in place. In addition, new controls will be added to ensure we can enforce the removal of dog faeces from adopted highways and footpaths. Due to recent poor water quality inspections, consideration is also being given to introducing a seasonal dog beach ban at Ogmore-by-Sea.

You can view the details of the current PSPOs in the documents and important links sections on our dedicated consultation page:
https://participate.valeofglamorgan.gov.uk/public-space-protection-orders

We would be grateful if you would share your views with us on our proposal to renew our existing PSPOs for a further three years.

Please also feel free to share this consultation with your wider networks.

The consultation will close on 21 March.
