Deafblind UK are looking for Virtual Group Volunteers

Come and join the fun …. We need friendly, outgoing and welcoming volunteers to assist at our regular online group meet ups.

We are looking for volunteers to support in facilitating small groups to enable our members to make the most of their time together, encouraging chat and opening up discussions so everyone gets a chance to participate. If you have BSL (British Sign Language) skills, we would love you to get involved with our online virtual groups for our BSL using members.

And if you don't have BSL skills, that is not a problem at all - we are also looking for volunteers to help support our regular group meetings which take place over the phone for those members who communicate with clear speech. No previous experience is required but a willingness to use the appropriate technology and having access to a computer or a smartphone would be required. A confident, outgoing personality with good communication skills go a long way too!

Could you give some time to help connect our members so many of whom manage their sight and hearing loss alone?

Dual sensory loss can be isolating and lonely. However, getting people together to enjoy each other's company goes a long way in tackling this.

Time commitment:  This role requires a minimum of 1 hour at a committed time on a fortnightly basis.
Training provided:  Full training is provided.
Selection procedures:  An informal discussion, application form completion and a disclosure and barring check (cost met by organisation).
