MaDCaff is a Disability Arts Cymru project that organises pop-up cafe, open mic events, to provide opportunities for people affected by mental illness to showcase their musical talents and support others to do the same. This is all done in an accessible venue with a relaxed and pressure-free atmosphere - and cake. Volunteers aged 18+ can get involved in a range of volunteering opportunities including:
Performer Recruiter - To find people in the local area who might want to perform at the event
Equipment Manager - To ensure that there is an appropriate sized PA system either at the venue or
Venue Volunteers - To get the room ready for people to arrive. To welcome people in. Clear up after
Compere - Keep a list of who wants to perform. Introduce each act
Café Stockist - To arrange in advance for there to be enough food and drinks for the cafe
Café Crew - Set up and run the café, cash handling. Clear up after the event
Documentary - at the event - To take stills/ video at the event and live stream if possible
Documentary – post event - Edit and upload images and video to website
Blogger – post event - Write up a review of the event, liaise with the person who is editing the stills and video and edit them into the review so each act’s image appears alongside their review
Time commitment: Negotiable with the organisation.
Expenses reimbursed: Travel expenses are reimbursed.
Training provided: Full training is provided.
Selection procedures: An informal discussion, application form, references and a disclosure and barring check will be required.
