Bro Radio set to launch in Llantwit Major on 100.2fm

Bro Radio, the community radio station for the Vale of Glamorgan, is excited to announce that industry regulator OFCOM, has approved plans for the station to improve and extend its FM coverage in 2020. The plans will not only see the station boost its existing FM coverage in Barry, but also launch a brand new frequency, 100.2fm, for listeners in and around Llantwit Major.

Now a brand new website will provide a lengthy and growing list of the area’s food businesses’ services and offerings to help people eat well and access good food easily.

Call Companion's Service

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, at Re-engage (formerly Contact the Elderly) we have suspended our regular social gatherings and have created a new service for older people called call companions. Our call companion's idea is very simple: a volunteer call companion calls the same older person between two and four times a month at a mutually agreed time for an informal chat. Calls will last for around 30 minutes.

MCD celebrates 5 years as a community dance charity

Our Director went Live for the first time this week on Facebook to celebrate the success of Motion Control Dance as we enter our 5th year as a charity, although Emma Mallam was actually celebrating 20 years since she started her first dance session in Barry. Congratulations - we hope that we will survive this crisis to celebrate together and continue our good work for another 20 years.

Help the NHS by downloading the COVID-19 Symptom Tracker App

We’re supporting the Welsh Government and NHS Wales in promoting the COVID-19 Symptom Tracker app, developed by Kings College London and healthcare science company ZOE. They’re asking people to download the app and log daily symptoms to help them build a clearer picture of how the virus is affecting people. The app is for everyone, not just those who are experiencing symptoms.

EDAS – Entry to Drug and Alcohol Services

EDAS (or Entry to Drug and Alcohol Services, to give it its full name) is a single point of entry for anyone who feels that they have an issue with any substance in both Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. EDAS provide simple and effective access to the full range of substance misuse services in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. We will however continue to provide telephone assessments for the foreseeable future and workers will offer telephone contact with all existing and new clients.
