BBC Children in Need Small Grants

The Small Grants programme is open to charities and not-for-profit distribution organisations that work with disadvantaged children and young people of 18 years and under who live in the UK, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands. You can apply for any amount up to and including £10,000 per year for up to 3 years.

Hafod Housing Support Services are running a FREE Drop in Service monthly at Age Connects Cardiff and Vale Senior Health Shop, 38 Holton Road Barry. Staff from Hafod Support Services will be available to chat to and offer advice and guidance on a range of matters including Welfare Rights and Form Filling, Health and Well Being, Finance and Housing etc.

Bro Radio announces exciting 2020 expansion plans

Bro Radio, the community radio station for the Vale of Glamorgan, is excited to announce that industry regulator OFCOM, has approved plans for the station to improve and extend its FM coverage in 2020. The plans will not only see the station boost its existing FM coverage in Barry, but also launch a brand new frequency, 100.2fm, for listeners in and around Llantwit Major.

The station was recognised with eight nominees in the shortlist, which were whittled down from more than 425 entries submitted from community radio stations in every corner of the UK.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Wales (BGCWales) are looking for members of communities in the rural Vale who think their community would benefit from a youth club or group for young people aged 11-18. We are also looking for dedicated volunteers who would like to gain new skills and have access to accredited youth work training by supporting the development of a club

Summer Fun – A Huge Hit at Amelia Trust Farm

Summer fun at Amelia Trust Farm was a big success this year, despite the roadworks on the five mile lane. “The roadworks on the Five Mile Lane have had an impact on our fundraising when there have been closures but thankfully visitors were able to reach us throughout the school holidays,” commented Karen Turnbull, Director.

Heritage Lottery Fund success for Victoria Square

After a busy spring and early summer compiling a detailed application to The National Lottery Heritage Lottery Fund, Friends of Victoria Square (FoVS) are very pleased to announce that they have secured a £9000 award. The money is principally being used to undertake Tree and Biodiversity Surveys of the Square.
